SMHA’s President and CEO, Lorna Bourg, and Consultant, Hilda Curry, attended the Catalyzing Opportunities in Rural America seminar June 4-7 in Monticello, New York. The seminar was co-hosted by Rural LISC and RUPCO, Inc. and brought together over 250 rural community developers from across the nation to share best practices, network and dialogue on many critical issues facing small communities in rural America. A tour of RUPCO’s work was included.
A pre-seminar workshop, Disaster Recovery and Resiliency, kicked off the week long activities.
“This was a great opportunity for us to see the brilliant work of other community developers and to get ideas of what we can do in rural Louisiana,” Bourg said.
