It is time to hear and heed the voices of Rural America, to give due respect to the contributions of rural American families and communities that have fed and fueled our nation for generations. Rural America produces the natural resources that make our country strong, provides stewardship of our food, our lands, and our waters, and is bedrock to American prosperity.

Spring has sprung in South Louisiana, and along with it, a fierce leadership has grown deeper roots in the West End neighborhood of New Iberia. Southern Mutual Help Association, Inc. (SMHA) President and CEO, Lorna Bourg, was pleased to award the West End Council of Neighborhood Associations, Inc. (WECNA, Inc.) the first installment of a newly established investment fund that will allow WECNA to continue their powerful work in the West End. As the West End folks continue to show the world their strength and determination, it is easy to see that change is really happening in New Iberia!

The group enjoyed stimulating trainings, meeting with other organizations, and brought home some new and exciting ideas for the West End of New Iberia. We can't wait to see what they do next!
