Speaker Addresses Political Injustice at Lafayette Luncheon
9/9/2014 10:19:32 AM

While the food was delicious, the keynote address by Lawrence Lessig was the real show-stealer at the 2014 Top 50 Businesses in Acadiana award luncheon. Lessig, author of Republic Lost: How Money Corrupts Congress - and a Plan to Stop It, gave an enthralling speech on the misuse of money in government and elections.

SMHA recognizes the importance of these issues and applauds partnering organizations such as One Voice Louisiana and Marguerite Casey Foundation’s Equal Voice for making equity for all a platform of their community development work.

Mr. Lessig’s critique of the political system was enlightening and inspiring, and SMHA looks forward to continuing our work for work for policies that are fair to all our families in America.
