Lurcy Marceaux, Construction and Property Management Consultant
Marceaux has been with SMHA for over 20 years. Through his untiring dedication to SMHA's clients he ahs assisted in the construction of over 260 new and rehabilitated units and has helped rural communites combat poverty through SMHA's credit and debt counseling, financial literacy training, home-ownership counseling and skills transfer training. Marceaux provided hundreds of families and communities in Acadiana a better quality of life and was committed to SMHA's Rural Recovery after the hurricanes of 2005 and 2008.
Jacklyn Ducote and Associates, LLC, West End Development, Archives, and Research Consultant
Jacklyn Ducote and Associates, LLC, led by Jacklyn Ducote, is a Baton Rouge based company that specializes in the archiving of company records. Ducote was the first female President of the Public Affairs Research Council, the Executive Vice President of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, President of the Louisiana State University Manship School ALumni Board, and chair for the LSU Journalism Building renovation committee. Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Ducote led the Public Policy Leadership Institute for SMHA and the 11-parish Rural Recovery Response. She is a long-time advocate for improving open meeting and public record laws in Louisiana. Ducote is a two-time LSU graduate with a Bachelor's in Journalism and a Master's in Library Science.
Phanat Xanamane, Teche Ridge and Web Design Consultant
Xanamane is a native of the West End neighborhood of New Iberia. He manages the bulk of communications for Teche Ridge, primarily through social media and developed the homeowner's guide for Teche Ridge. Xanamane is the Creative Director for Envision daBerry, and has taught classes at Columbia University, Parsons The New School for Design, Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok and Louisiana State University. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and his Master's of Science in Architecture and Urban Design at Columbia University in New York City.
Robby Bethel, West End Community Liaison
Bethel is a resident and community leader in the West End, and has worked as the community liaison for SMHA since June 2011. Bethel served for seven years in the United States Army before working for Habitat for Humanity in Americus, Georgia. Since returning to New Iberia, Bethel has worked with Envision daBerry, Keep America Beautiful, Keep New Iberia Beautiful, the Hopkins Street Revitalization, Inc., and state representative Terry Landry to involve the community with legislative leadership and education. Bethel is also the secretary for the West End Council of Neighborhood Associations.
LaCour serves as Certified Mortgage Loan Originator for Southern Mutual Financial Services, Inc. She has been with SMHA for five years, previously assisting the President with various aspects of the Teche Ridge Development, worked with Architects, Engineers, the Department of Transportation and Development, and various other local and state entities, in order to move the project forward. Lacour helped to oversee the scheduling, communications, and information management between SMHA staff and President, as well as helped to enhance the image, strength, and integrity of SMHA. She served as SMHA's Program Operations Manager as well as a certified Mortgage Loan Originator for Southern Mutual Financial Services, Inc.
Former Mayor Hilda Curry joined Southern Mutual Help in 2017. Curry spent 12 years as Mayor of New Iberia working hard for the citizens of of New Iberia. She has a love and understanding of SMHA's mission and will bring that knowledge to others.
